Professional development is integrated into the curriculum and I think that is really one of the awesome parts of Peace because you don't get that at every school that you go to and so that means no matter who you are you're going to leave with some sort of professional development experience.
The internship that I got was in ABS Kids which is working with kids with autism and I'm very interested in counseling and clinical related field so it's just amazing to have that one-on-one treatment with kids. Now that I've done my internship, I feel less worried about what comes after. I feel more prepared, I feel more confident, and it's just an experience that's been very impactful.
I felt very comfortable on the internship journey because of the help from the Center for Student Success. They helped me craft a resume. They helped me craft a LinkedIn. They helped me submit applications. So that by the time that I was actually offered that job offer from my internship, I felt prepared. I felt confident going into it.
I interned at a local nonprofit called Urban Ministries of Wake County. And this internship helped solidify my decision of going into social work. And I would have not had that confidence on which career I would pursue had it not been for the experience that Peace helped facilitate.
