At William Peace University, we are an NCAA Division III school, and we compete in the USA South Conference. As a D3 athlete, it's perfect. I get a focus on a lot more things than just my sports. It's a lot of emphasis on academics, on being happy with other things in your life, and then sports.
I am a swimmer for the William Peace University swim team, and being a student athlete demands a lot of out of you because you need a lot of time management, but it is possible. Teachers are very supportive and will try their best to work around your schedule. Coaches will make sure that you are on top of classes to make sure that everything is above board.
So the Pacer Performance Center is huge for us. It's something that some Division III schools don't have. It's something that recruits really seem to enjoy and something that stands out when they come to visit campus. And it's always something that students, once they're here, are able to build a lot of memories in there as well. So I think it's a great place for our student athletes to have.
I love Raleigh. Raleigh is a great place to go to school. It's growing at an exponential rate. And even the bigger schools in the area have huge team events like football, basketball, things like that. I love going to watch the NC State football games. Me and my friends do that; pretty much every home game we're there.
And then last year I went to see a Carolina Hurricanes game, which is the hockey team here. That was my first ever hockey game and it was so much fun. Like I considered buying season tickets.
