The vibe here on campus is very tight-knit. There's a lot of people you will know, given that the student ratio is actually really small. So I did have the opportunity to participate in some research, and I was asked to do that initially by my math professor, but at this point it's now gained steam, and I'm actually working with three professors on campus across three different disciplines.
Our graduates leave here with the skills and experiences that they can apply. I am actually transferring in from Wake Tech. I don't do well with online classes, so having the attention that the teachers can give you is a fantastic thing that really drew me to this school as well.
It is definitely important to get involved. When I first started here, I wasn't really planning on getting involved with the peace community. But in time with talking with my peer mentor at the time and just other friends who were in student orgs, they highly suggested it because it does create a great resume for a future career path and also just meeting new people and having those great connections to build from.
Student involvement on campus is something that everyone has the opportunity to do. There are so many clubs for so many people's interests. I'm part of the Civic Order organization that was started by some of my friends. There's a lot of different restaurants. There's a lot of different places to hangouts. Just so many things to do, it'd be impossible to say that there's just one thing you can do. You're always gonna be busy here.
